How to Assign Contacts

The shared/assigned to account receives and email notification for each contact that is shared.


The difference between sharing and assign is:

  • Sharing – The user that the contact is shared with has the ability to view the contact record but cannot edit the contact’s information, or add additional sharing and assigning rules.
  • Assigning – The user that the contact is assigned to has the ability to both view the contact record and edit the contact’s information.


There are two areas where you can update who a contact is shared with:

  1. Leads and Contacts actions menu
  2. Within the specific contact record


Actions Menu

  1. On the left navigation, click Leads & Contacts > Contacts
  2. Use the search bar to quickly find your contact(s). 
    • Search by name, email, or phone number.
  3. Check the box next to each contact name. 
  4. Click Actions > Admin action > Assign to user.
    • A slide out page appears. 
  5. Choose one of the following actions:
    • Assign
    • Unassign
  6. In the dropdown, choose a team member then click Submit
    • (Optional) Click Notify Shared Members to notify the shared users of a certain contact.





Contact Details Relationships

  1. On the left navigation, click Leads & Contacts > Contacts
  2. Use the search bar to quickly find your contact. 
    • Search by name, email, or phone number. 
  3. Click the name of the contact to view contact information.
  4. Scroll down to the Relationships section. 
  5. Click Edit
    • A pop-up box appears.
  6. Change who the contact is assigned with. 
    • Note: Clicking the X next to the name unshares the contact with the specific user.
  7. Click Save
