When you click the Review & Run Campaign button in the campaign builder, the Review & Run Campaign box opens. Below the summary of the campaign's audience, senders, and content, the box includes the following optional checkbox:
Automatically update recipient list before first send
- If this option is disabled:
- The audience is generated immediately after you click the Run Campaign button at the bottom of the box. At that moment, the campaign builder applies the defined audience inclusion and exclusion criteria to the eligible senders. The resulting list becomes your static recipient list and will not update, even if the scheduled send date is weeks or months later. (This is the legacy behavior that existed before this option was available.)
- If this option is enabled:
- The audience is generated 24 hours before the first scheduled send time. This ensures that the recipient list reflects the most up-to-date contacts that meet your audience and sender criteria. This is especially useful for campaigns scheduled well in advance.
Example
On August 1, you set up a Labor Day email campaign. You configure your audience, sender, and content, schedule the send date for Labor Day, and click the Review and Run Campaign button.
- With the option disabled: The audience is generated on August 1 and remains fixed until the send date.
- With the option enabled: The audience is generated the day before Labor Day, ensuring the recipient list reflects the most current contacts that match your campaign settings.
